The Alpaca Park
Listing Details
In the heart of the Ruby Country lies a very special treasure! With a prestigious Gold Award from Devon Wildlife Trust, this 100 acre farm is steeped in natural beauty, where otters, deer (both Red & Roe) and badgers roam free.
We boast our own Nature Trail and would encourage you to sample the abundance of wildlife and flowers along its path which meanders along side the river claw. We have the very rare Marsh fritillary butterflies alighting on Sheep’s-bit scabious in fields of culm grass heaving with interest. Culm grass is rarer than tropical forests world wide and we do everything we can to maintain this endangered species and the wildlife that depends upon it. There is a hide in the pond field where you can sit and listen to the sounds of nature or benches along the route for you to sit a while and savour the moment.
We breed and keep Alpacas in some fields, amazing animals, and together with their young, (crias) they will delight you at every opportunity. These gentle animals, native of Peru, are not bred for their meat and are shorn once a year for their fleeces.
