Hole Station Campsite - Camping in Ruby Country
Located close to Hatherleigh, Holsworthy and Okehampton, in the heart of the Ruby Country, the Hole Station campsite is a completely secluded camping haven for those seeking peace and tranquillity on a small camp site - a perfect weekend getaway.
Hole Station is a converted former railway station located on what was a quiet, backwater country line, and is surrounded by pasture and woodland, approached via a private track. Nearby (within walking distance) are two pubs, both of which serve pub meals, in Black Torrington and Highampton, and a Post Office and general store at Highampton. The nearby towns of Okehampton, Hatherleigh and Holsworthy offer more extensive facilities.
About The Campsite
Campsite facilities include a shower, wc, personal washing facilities, and water for camping purposes from a standpipe.
Dogs - Allowed on the campsite, they must however be kept on a lead due to the large number of deer in the woods. There is a dedicated dog walk too.
Woodland walk - the campsite is located adjacent to 23 acres of private woodlands, there is a woodland walk with a picnic spot, perfect for those seeking a campsite you don't have to leave to find something to do! Dogs must be kept on a lead.
Rent-a-Tent - Travelling light? Why not rent a tent, erected for you, you just turn up, perfect for cyclists and walkers or those who want to try camping without buying all the camping kit first. Two person pup tents and three person tents with two compartments for hire.
Pitches - 16'X25', camping at the Hole Station campsite isn't cramped.
Motorcyclists Welcome - It's surprising how many campsites don't like motorcyclists and motorcycles. A completely irrational attitude. We welcome motorcyclists at our campsite, plenty of safe parking too.
Train Buffs Welcome - How can you refuse? A former station with a Norwegian carriage in the grounds, and an adjacent grain store built by Italian POW's. If there was ever a camp site for rail enthusiasts, it's the Hole Station campsite!
Cyclists Welcome - Hole Station campsite is just off National Cycle Network No.3 (Holsworthy to Black Torrington), close to Okehampton and the Sticklepath cycle route, and the Tarka Trail, which finishes near Hatherleigh, four miles from Hole Station campsite. There is a short but really pleasant cycle track at the entrance to Hole Station camp site leading to Highampton and a pub, along the old railway cutting.
Groups Welcome - Hole Station campsite can cater for groups, but please enquire early to ensure there is space on the campsite.
